McAllister Park Little League’s (MPLL) All-Stars became the third team in the history of San Antonio Little League to advance to the Little League World Series with a resounding victory over New Mexico 13-3 in the Southwestern Regional Championship game on Wednesday, August 10 at Waco’s Norcross Field.
MPLL’s American League All-Star team’s bats erupted setting a Southwestern Regional record for runs scored in the championship game, and never looked back after being down 3-2 to end the first inning. MPLL piled up 16 hits while their defense and pitching shut down the previously undefeated Eastdale Little League All-Stars from Albuquerque, New Mexico to bring the Southwestern Regional Championship banner back to MPLL. It’s the third appearance for MPLL at the Little League World Series in the last eight years.
Next up for your All-Stars is a match-up with the winner of the Great Lakes Regional on Friday, August 19 at 8pm in South Williamsport, Pennslyvania at the legendary Lamade Stadium.
The MPLL 9-10, 10-11, and Little League All-Stars completed their second consecutive three age group sweep of the Texas West State Tournament at Abilene Wiley’s Little League Complex on Tuesday, July 19.
In the 9-10 Division, the MPLL American League All-Stars cruised to victory over the Waco Midway All-Stars in the final 14-0 and finished their first All-Star run undefeated. The 10-11 National League All-Stars overcame a loss to Midland Northern on Sunday, July 17 and won three consecutive games including two in row over Midland Northern to capture their second consecutive Texas West State Title. In the Little League division, the MPLL American League All-Stars rode strong pitching performances and clutch hitting to put away West Brownsville and Lubbock Dixie twice to take their third consecutive Texas West State championship.
With their victory in the Texas West State Championship, the MPLL American League All-Stars earned a trip to the Southwest Region Final where they will play Louisiana on Thursday, August 4 at 11am in Waco at Norcross Field. Tune in to the Longhorn Network to watch your All-Stars compete for a chance to advance to Williamsport and the Little League World Series.
